Sasquatch

by Lucas Smith

Well, it is evidence,

each sighting and story,

not definitive, yes,

nor a fortiori.

A conspiracy vast

as the moon, evergreen

as mid-tarsal breaks cast

in cryptic Plasteen.

They solemnise burials

gait silent and vanish

behind striplings and owls,

mind-forge their own English

to communicate fears

of what we plucked men did.

Listen—Esau’s all ears,

argue ad hominid.
